The event is being organized with the aim of creating awareness about the cultural connections between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi.
This time, Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0 will begin from February 15-24, with the registration open now. The main events will be held at Kashi’s Namo Ghat, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj. Notably, this year the Sangamam will be set against the backdrop of the Maha kumbh, and the Kashi Tamil Sangamam delegates will also participate in the festival.

According to the organizers, approximately 1000 people from five categories are expected to participate in the event. These categories include students, teachers, farmers, artisans, professionals, and entrepreneurs. A group of 200 students from all central universities will also participate in the event and will get the opportunity to visit places like Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya.
The Kashi Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi will be organised by IIT Madras to celebrate the deep-rooted cultural and historical ties between Kashi and Tamil Nadu. This event will bring together people from diverse backgrounds, including students, farmers, and scholars, to engage in seminars, cultural performances, and visits to iconic sites.
The Kashi Tamil Sangamam third edition will be organised by IIT Madras between February 15 and 24. The Kashi Tamil Sangamam was started by the Indian government with the motive of creating awareness about two cultures that connect India from North to South. It reflects the cultural connections between the two centres of learning and culture in ancient India.
Applications are invited in five categories through the official website Kashitamil.iitm.ac.in. General public can register using the same portal.
KASHI TAMIL SANGAMAM: PARTICIPANTS FROM DIVERSE FIELDS
This year, the event is expected to host 1,200 participants, including 200 Tamil students from central institutions. Farmers, teachers, writers, small entrepreneurs, innovators, and women from self-help groups in Tamil Nadu will also join.
Participants from Tamil Nadu will visit key locations such as the ancestral house of Tamil poet Subramania Bharati, Kedar Ghat, Kasi Mandapam, and the Tamil Department at BHU for academic and literary interactions.
Different participants who are coming to the event will have the opportunity to witness Mahakumbh 2025 and take Amrit Snan on several holy dates.
The main theme entitled with Kashi Tamil Sangamam will be to highlight the major contributions of Sage Agasthiyar to the Siddha System of Medicine (Bharatiya Chikitsa), Classical Tamil literature, and the cultural unity of the nation.

The main theme of this year’s Kashi Tamil Sangam is to highlight the Siddha system of medicine, traditional Tamil literature, and the significant contribution made by Agastya to the cultural unity of the nation.
“Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0 aims to celebrate, reaffirm, and rediscover the age-old links between Tamil Nadu and Kashi – two of the country’s most important and ancient seats of learning. The 10-day event will feature 1,200 delegates, artisans, and innovators,” Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said.

This year’s event will be held in conjunction with the Maha Kumbh Mela, which will take place from January 13 to February 26, 2025. Representatives of the Kashi Tamil Sangam will have the opportunity to take a holy dip known as ‘Shahi Snanam’ at the Maha Kumbh Mela and will also have darshan at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The event is organized to attract around 1000 participants from Tamil Nadu, divided into 5 groups. Students, teachers, farmers, artisans, professionals, entrepreneurs and others from various walks of life can participate in it.
