The Andhra Pradesh government is launching a health scheme, ‘YSR Kanti Velugu’,Coinciding with the World Sight Day, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will launch the ‘YSR Kanti Velugu’, a comprehensive, sustainable and universal eyecare scheme.Coinciding with the World Sight Day, Chief Minister Y.S. The programme will be launched in Anantapur. Beginning from schoolchildren in the first phase of the programme, nearly 5.40 crore people will undergo screening test under the medical scheme. Seventy lakh schoolchildren will be covered from October 10 to 16, and surgeries, if needed, will be performed in the second phase from November 1 to 31, all free of cost.

Under the scheme, the government will bear the entire cost from preliminary eye check-up to surgeries wherever required for the entire 5.40 crore population, a release from the Chief Ministers Office here said.This is a revolutionary scheme in the health care sector. The governments objective is to ensure healthy eyesight for all citizens,” the release added.

Over 70 lakh school children would be covered under the scheme in the first two phases from October 10.Children found to be having vision defects would be provided advanced treatment in the second phase from November 1.A task force headed by the Collector would monitor the programme in each district, the release said, adding thousands of health and para-medical staff would take part in the programme.

YSR Kanti Velugu Scheme December Update

Through YSR Kanti Velugu Scheme around 2488800 lakh, beneficiaries in Hyderabad and 29640 lakh beneficiaries in ranga reddy district have been benefited. They are provided with reading and prescription glasses. This data has been revealed by society for the safety of the public and good governance. Through the YSR Kanti Velugu scheme, overall 2343642 individuals of Andhra Pradesh have been provided reading glasses and 1495972 people have been provided prescription glasses. This scheme has funding of rupees 196.79 crores.

Anantha Venkatarami Reddy called on all stakeholders to be supportive and to ensure that every welfare program introduced by the government is accessible to the public. Recognizing the eye problems in the state, the CM is working on a series of screening, eye surgery and eye surgeries for everyone to avoid. He showered praises on Jaganmohan Reddy for his welfare schemes.

District-level task force committees with the Collectors as their chairmen have been constituted for effective implementation of the programme.Besides, 160 District Programme Officers, 1,415 medical officers, 42,360 ASHA workers, 62,500 teachers, 14,000 ANMs and 14,000 public health wing staff will become active part of the programme. Health kits have already been sent to all the Primary Health Centres across the State.

Phase I- Primary basic screening of school children

Phase I has was started from 10^th October 2019 and completed on 15^th October 2019. It basically started with the screening of school children. For the implementation of the program the concerned officials coordinated School Education Department at District level, mandal level and school level.

Phase I district action plan was consist of Training action plan, Logistic plan for supply of screening material/ equipment and lastly the monitoring and supervision plan. Phase II also have been completed. Check the statistics collected on the basis of Phase II given as under-
