“special” passenger trains – This week, trains between Delhi and 15 major railway stations began

These “special” trains (15 trains and 30 journeys) departed on Tuesday. It will leave Delhi, Assam, Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Tripura.

The train is an important transport service to India

Prior to the lockdown, the railway operated around 12,000 trains a day. They are transporting goods worth Rs 28,032.80 crore and earning Rs 12,844.37 crore in passenger fares in the third quarter of 2019/20, PTI reported.

According to the news agency last month, the Railways refunded Rs 1,490 crore after the cancellation of 94 lakhs of tickets before the lockdown. The first phase of the lockdown, from March 22 to April 14, refunded to Rs 830 crore.

As of Wednesday, the train had run 642 “Shramic” special trains, news agency ANI said. The trains carried about 7.9 million migrants, while others stranded amid the lockdown of the Coronavirus.

After the first lockdown, hundreds of thousands of migrants were stranded across the country.  There were no jobs, money, food, or shelter, and public transport, including trains, closed, so they had to try hundreds of kilometers walk to their home.

Fearing political backlash, the government finally allowed special trains for migrants and other stranded people.

All non-essential trains, including passenger services, suspended since March 22. Three days before the nationwide lockdown began to break the coronavirus transmission chain.

Five days before the end of the third Phase of the Corona Virus Lockdown, the Railway Department plans to restart the passenger train. The government also hopes to restart normal life and boost the national economy.
