DGP B Shivadhar Reddy monitored polling and said police made security arrangements across locations.Minor skirmishes took place in Karimnagar, Sangareddy and other places. Police used mild lathi charge in Karimnagar after BJP workers blocked a road near the bus stand, alleging impersonation at a polling station. A few BJP workers sustained minor injuries.

In Sangareddy, Congress leader and former MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy argued with police, alleging bogus voting.In Nizamabad, police registered an FIR against BJP MP Arvind Dharmapuri under sections of the BNS and the Telangana Municipalities Act for allegedly entering a polling booth, arguing with staff and police, and making comments against police.

Telangana Municipal Elections: The voting was held in crucial municipal elections covering 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations. With over 52 lakh voters and around 13,000 candidates, the election was closely watched as a test of political strength for Congress, BJP, and BRS.

Polling for 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations across Telangana concluded peacefully on Wednesday, with over 52 lakh voters casting their ballots. Voting began at 7 am and continued until 5 pm, while the counting of votes is scheduled for February 13. The elections are being seen as a crucial political test for the ruling Congress, the opposition BJP, and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Over 73 per cent of voters exercised their franchise in the municipal elections in Telangana which passed off peacefully barring minor skirmishes at a few places. The State Election Commission (SEC) said 73.01 percentage of voting was recorded.  Khammam and Kothagudem districts recorded a particularly strong voter turnout, with over 82 per cent polling in Khammam and 73 per cent in Kothagudem by 5 pm. Although voting started on a slow note, it picked up pace by the afternoon in municipalities such as Edulapuram, Sathupalli, Madhira, Kallur, and Wyra.
