The Telangana Government has increased the financial benefits of Kalyan Lakshmi / Marriage Mubarak Scheme from Rs. 75,116 to Rs. 1,00,116. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said in a statement in the Legislative Assembly, “I am happy to mention that the amount given for the marriage of girl under the Kalyan Lakshmi / Marriage Mubarak scheme was increased from Rs. 75,116 to Rs. 1,00,116 is.’

The state government of Telangana has included Brahmin girls in the beneficiaries of the Kalyan Lakshmi Scheme. Under this scheme, the government will also provide financial assistance to the Brahmin girls for their marriage. Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes girls were also taking advantage of this scheme but on May 9, Brahmin girls will be included in the scheme and will be made beneficiary

State Government provides financial assistance for marriage to girls of poor families under Kalyan Lakshmi / Marriage Mubarak Yojana. This scheme was introduced on October 2, 2014. Rao said, “Initially, the plan was started for the scheduled caste / tribe and marriage mubarak for the minority community, which was given Rs. 51,000 for the marriage of the girl.”

After this, it was started for every section of the society. Last year, this amount was increased to Rs. 75,116. So far 3,60,000 girls have been helped under this scheme. He said that this scheme has achieved other social goals like preventing child marriage. The Chief Minister said that to take advantage of this scheme the girl’s parents now wait for their 18-year-old marriage to marry him.

• To get benefit of Kalyan Lakshmi Yojana, applicant should be permanent resident of Telangana State
•  When beneficiaries get benefit in this scheme, when the beneficiaries will cross 18 years.
• The families whose annual income is less than 2 lakh rupees can get the benefit of this scheme.
