In order to tighten the safety from identity theft, the Department of Telecommunication recently launched a portal where any Aadhaar holder can check SIM cards issued in their name. The portal is called Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP). By following a few simple steps, you can check the list of mobile numbers issued in your name.

The portal provides facilities to users by intimating subscribers about the number of connections they have. Users can visit the portal and report the numbers that are no longer used by them or are required. The telecom service providers will then block or deactivate the numbers.The portal helps users in knowing how many SIM cards have been issued on the same number. Similarly, the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) recently launched the Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) portal to allow users to check whether their Aadhaar card and mobile number are linked. The portal is also a safe way of checking details to reduce online frauds, especially amid the pandemic. However, it is only available to residents inUsers can also use the portal to report numbers that are no longer used by them. Have you wondered how many Subscriber Identity Module or SIM cards have been issued against your Aadhaar card? If yes, then we have good news! The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has recently introduced a new portal – Named Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP) – using which one can check the SIM connections issued with their Aadhaar card as identity proof. 

Anyone can use the TAFCOP portal to check the list of mobile numbers issued in their name. You can also report if you find a number that you haven’t issued against your Aadhaar card on the portal.According to the DoT guidelines, any Indian telecom user can register up to 9 mobile connections with his or her Aadhaar card. TAFCOP has been developed by DoT to let mobile subscribers enquire about the number of connections taken in their name.

Make sure you have entered the correct address. Then you get an input field in the centre of the homepage, and click on the “Get OTP” button.

After that, you will receive an OTP from DOT. Enter the OTP and click on the “Validate” button.

After the OTP verification, you will get a list of mobile numbers issued with your Aadhaar details.

Check the numbers carefully. If you see a number that is not in use, you can report those to the Department of Telecommunication from the portal itself.

In order to report a number, choose the checkbox on the left of the number, and click on the “This is not my number,” in case you do not remember purchasing the number. For the numbers you do not need anymore, click on the “Not required” option.

Lastly, click on the Report button.
