RBI Assistant Recruitment 2026
The Reserve Bank of India has published notification for the recruitment of 650 posts of ‘Assistant’ on its official website. Selection for these posts will be done based on the performance of candidates in two phases i.e., Preliminary and Main Examination, followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT). The Bank will conduct the country-wide competitive prelims examination on April 11, 2026 across the country. The online application process is underway and eligible candidates can apply online for these posts on or before March 08, 2026.

RBI Assistant recruitment 2026: Eligibility criteria
Applicants must be:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, or
- A person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (with eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India).
Age limit (as on February 1, 2026):
- Minimum age: 20 years
- Maximum age: 28 years
- Candidates must have been born between February 2, 1998 and February 1, 2006 (both dates inclusive)
Educational qualifications:Candidates must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks (pass class for SC/ST/PwBD candidates).
- Knowledge of word processing on computer.
- Proficiency in the local language of the state or region applied for (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding).
- For Ex-servicemen, graduation from a recognised university or equivalent qualification is required after at least 15 years of defence service.
RBI Assistant recruitment 2026: Selection process
The selection will be conducted in three stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
The Language Proficiency Test will be conducted in the official or local language of the concerned state. Candidates who are not proficient in that language will be disqualified.

RBI Assistant 2026 Application Fee Details
Candidates applying for Assistant posts will have to pay category wise examination fees/ intimation charge fixed by the RBI. Candidates should note that the application fees are non-refundable and these must be paid through the online payment mode. Below are the details of the application fee to be paid by the candidates-

Candidates selected finally for the Assistant posts will draw a starting basic pay of Rs. 29,000/- per month in the scale of Rs.29000–

RBI Assistant 2026 Prelims Exam Pattern
Selection will be done on the basis of performance of candidates in two phases i.e., Preliminary and Main Examination, followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT). The preliminary examination will be conducted on April 11, 2026 in a multiple choice format consisting of subjects including English LanguageNumerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. There will be a total 100 number of questions having 100 maximum marks. Total allotted time will be 60 minutes. Check the table given below-
