Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said the southern state was ready to receive the non-resident Indians who want to return to their country due to COVID-19 outbreak.Talking to mediapersons, Vijayan informed that so far, 2.76 lakh non-resident Keralites residing in more than 150 countries have registered themselves on the website of non-resident Keralites affairs (Norka) department, expressing their desire to return to Kerala.

Kerala’s NORKA registrations receive huge response! Day 1 of NORKA registrations saw more than a lakh registrations, with the highest number of non-resident Keralites registering from the UAA. Now nearly 3 lakh expats spanning 150 countries are expected to return to Kerala, with registrations already taking place on the online registration facility called Norka Roots.

As the same server and website is used for registration of Keralites wishing to return from foreign nations, a separate section will be available reportedly for the hundreds stranded in various States.people reaching the four international airports, the government is looking into a proposal of the Transport Department to restrict the movement through six interstate check-posts. The check-posts are Kumily, Arayankavu, Amaravila, Walayar, Muthanga, and Manjeswaram.

The Kerala govt is expecting that after Coronavirus pandemic lockdown will end thousand of people will travel to Kerala.
