THE state government on decided to handover 400 plots at Newtown action area II and III in Kolkata to government employees, including police personnel.The housing project will have middle and high income group (MIG, HIG) flats and will be undertaken by the Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO). The flats will be given by lottery with a 99-year lease agreement.The project will begin after the Cabinet Committee of the Industrial Infrastructure gives its approval in the next meeting.

According to sources, each building will have eight flats and a co-operative society to which the flats will handed over.For high-income buildings, the land area will be six cottah (1 cottah = 720 square feet) and five to four cottah for middle income.Government employees with an income between Rs 30,000 and Rs 80,000 can apply for MIG flats and those above this threshold can opt for HIG flats.

HIDCO has come up with a lottery of four hundred cooperative plots spread over Action Area 1, 2 and 3 in New Town. The sizes of the plots are from four cottah to six cottah and it will be given to the applicants according to which income group they are falling. The plots are categorized in two types – Type 1 is Housing cooperatives which is formed exclusively by Government employees including police and Type 2 is housing cooperatives which is formed by persons not belong to type 1. The plots will be given for residential use for 99 years. Every year there will be a nominal plot rent of one thousand rupees.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicant must be an Indian citizen who has completed 18 years of age as of 01.01.2022.
The applicant or any of his/her family members must not own any plot of land or flat in New Town, Kolkata or must have not availed any benefit under any scheme including Rehabilitation undertaken by WBHIDCO within New Town, Kolkata, or any Government Project/Scheme.
Her family means the applicant himself or herself, spouse, and dependent parents.
Gross family income not exceeding `25,000/-

PAYMENT SCHEDULE

1st Installment

Due Date: Within 3 (three) months from the date of issuance of offer letter by WBHIDCO Ltd.
% of Lease Premium: 25% (including adjustment of Application Money) i.e., Rs. 50,600/-

2nd & Final Installment

Due Date: Within 6 (six) months from the date of issuance of offer letter by WBHIDCO Ltd.
% of Lease Premium: 75% i.e., Rs.2,50,800/-
