The state government has decided to waive off the beneficiary contribution of Rs. 25 a month towards subscription payment for provident funds. WB govt. has decided to contribute the amount itself on behalf of the beneficiaries from 1st April 2020. Thus the scheme was renamed as Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana (BM-SSY) where any enrolled beneficiary can avail all the available benefits without expending a single rupee.

Benefits of Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana

The Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana also includes landless farmers in the state.
There is also a provision of providing provident fund (PF) for the unorganized sectors and other-regarding benefits.
The laborers do not have to pay any premium money to get benefits. The WB government will pay the premium amount on the behalf of poor laborers.
Under the Samajik Suraksha Yojana, approx. 1.5 crores people are getting benefits.
The age limit is set above 60 years. The laborers will have to reach the age of 60years to get the benefits.
In case of death of the beneficiary, his/her family will be given rupees 2 lakhs and the disabled ones will get rupees 1 lakh.

Samajik Suraksha Yojana Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for the Samajik Suraksha Scheme and getting benefits under the scheme, a beneficiary should satisfy the following criteria listed below:

The applicant must be the resident of West Bengal
The applicant must be 18-16 years of age
The family’s total income should not exceed Rs.6500/- per month except construction & transport workers. (For construction & transport workers family income has no upper limit)
