The government of Assam has announced a new scheme called Arundhati to provide gold at free of cost to the brides. Under the Assam Arundhati Gold Scheme state government will provide One Tola (10 Gm) Gold of Rs 38000 to each New Marriage Brides of economic weaker section This Arundhati Gold Scheme 2020 in Assam will ensure that the daughter’s of the state becomes happy in their after marriage life. Happy women lays a strong foundation for the holistic development of the state.

Moreover, the customary traditions of the communities will get fulfilled which would enables citizen to live a life of dignity in their society. This scheme will cost Rs. 800 crore per annum to state exchequer.Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed, “Happy to announce that we shall give 1 Tola Gold, at about Rs 38K as on today, to brides belonging to all such communities of Assam where it is customary to provide gold at time of wedding.” According to Twitter handle of Finance Dept, Govt of Assam, Rs 300 cr has been earmarked for Arundhati Scheme in Assam.

Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said people who wants to benefit from the education loan subsidy programme of the government to apply before September 20.Under the Abhinandan Education Loan Subsidy Scheme of last year, students who have taken education loans from banks at any point of time will get a subsidy of Rs. 50,000.The programme under which Rs 50,000 of the loan amount is borne by the government, was put on hold due to COVID.

Government is now re-starting the programme, the minister said addressing a press conference here. “Already 1,545 people have been given this subsidy. We have 5,547 applications which have been approved. Those who have not applied but wants to avail the facility can now apply by logging in to www.assamfinanceloans.in. Funds would be released between October 7-10. Applications have to reach up before September 20

Under this scheme, students are provided with free textbooks up to Higher secondary level. The state government has also released Rs.1000 funds to the bank account of 67,531 graduation students for procurement of textbooks.
